Year 2 Curriculum
Black History Month

We have been learning about super humans, one of these significant people was Florence Nightingale. We acted out a scene as if we were in Scutari Hospital, where Florence Nightingale looked after injured soldier in the Crimean War. We imagined what it would have been like there, thinking about what we could see, hear, smell, feel and taste.
Also, as part of our topic Superhumans, we have learnt about Louis Braille. We investigated why it was so important for Louis Braille to find a way for visually impaired people to read and even had a go at writing our name in Baille and feeling the raised dots.
In Maths we have been exploring addition and subtraction. We have really challenged ourselves in this topic looking and adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers, number bonds, fact families and using concrete resources to support our understanding. We have applied our knowledge to approach problem solving and reasoning questions with confidence.
